Using Soil to Remove Pollutants From Wastewater

Soil that is being used as a wastewater treatment must be unsaturated, deep, and permeable to air and water in order to perform well. Only 16% of Ohio’s soil is ideal for traditional septic systems. Filtering, naturally occurring microbes, and adsorption are all ways that pollutants are naturally removed from wastewater.
